We are taking a break from our science to get in a little social studies and more writing.  Ask your student to show you the poems that our class posted on our new class blog.

This past two weeks be have finished up Factors and Multiples, as well as Prime and Composite numbers in math.  Ask your students for definitions.

We finished our first reading groups of the year.  We all read realistic fiction book.  Now we are talking about fantasy and reading more fun books.  We should finish these before Thanksgiving.  Since we are 1/4 of the way through the year the students should have read about 10 of the 40 books for their "40 Book Challenge"  These 40 books include ones they read at school and at home.

It has been another great week!
Today I will be changing the XtraMath to be multipilication for all students.  When they finish Multiiplication and Division they can go back and work on addition and subtraction.  Remember that it only counts once during the day but they can practice as many times as they want.

Start looking for quarter sheet quizzes to come home with your students.  Math are blue and Scoence are greeen.  They are graded with 1,2, or 3
1 = Skill not mastered
2 = Skill almost masterd
3 = Skill mastered

This Week We Learned:
...about multipying and dividing by powers of ten.  We can take a recipe for cookies or brownines and make it for ten batches instead of just one, or even a hundred batches.
...more about the water cycyle.

Thank you for sharing your amazing kids with me! I love coming to school every day.

This past week we have learned more about our number system and why it works so great. In reading we are practicing what we will be doing during our guided reading time which will be starting soon. In science we have started our hydrology unit. We did some fun experiments. Ask your student about our cool "Water Cycle" song.

Homework went well last week. Remember to do the front and back of the paper as written. Some are still struggling with XtraMath. Do not to put it off until late in the week or you can't get all three days practice in. If you are struggling getting XtraMath set up on your devise let me know and I can help you through it. Don't buy the app because it works great through the web browser on phones and tablets.

Thank you for sharing your amazing kids with me! I love coming to school every day.
