Week of September 28 - No TV Week

This first full week has been a long one for the kids, but they have done so well.  Things are finally starting to mesh in our classroom as we all get to know each other better and learn new routines and procedures.  This week we continued to lengthen our reading and writing stamina, discussed
what it means to observe like a scientist does and what is a "Good Choice" book.  We can finally log onto the computers, Chromebooks and XtraMath!!!

The first homework assignment of the year was due today.  If you student forgot to turn it in they can still turn it in next week and will lose only 1 point out of 20 for having it late.  I encourage you to have your child turn in whatever homework they have finished by Friday on Friday, even if it means missing a point or two, and then start fresh the next week.  Homework quickly becomes overwhelming when weeks pile on top of each other and students usually end up with a better grade overall if they get the chance to start over and do better on a weekly basis.  You can find more information on homework at leann-andrews.sites.nebo.edu/homework or on our class website under Homework.

A quick note from the lunch room: Milk and juice have gone up from 25 cents to 50 cents this year.

Thank you for another great week!

Our students are so helpful.  These little acts of kindness really build our classroom community.  Sometimes they can do jobs that I just can't reach.  Thanks Cristal!

We talked about what it means to observe like a scientist does.  We observed things in our classroom and had our friends try to guess what we observed.
